The BIG decision

These are photos taken of the newly fallen trees on the soon to be Eric and family Baker homestead on Salt Spring Island! Yep, we have prayed, and fasted, and prayed and feel like we have the Lord's support in developing the "other 10 acres" (Ted and Sonja live on 10 acres and we will live on the other). It has all happened quickly, within a few days, and seems a bit unreal especially since we aren't even there. The goal is to get the trees down and branches/stumps ready to be burned before the "burn ban" is put into effect, more than likely, next month.
The home will go where the trees will have once stood. We are not cutting them all down...we love the forest there. We hope to be able to move into the home two years from now so we will see how things go.
I can just imagine one of the neighbors has been sent into shock with the sound of the saws and the realization that he will once again have to live through more "little Bakers" roaming the fields and forests with bee bee guns. There must have been a sigh of relief 15 years ago when Eric left the property and now he'll be back with two boys of his own.
This has been a very big decision. We plan to build and live there until we pass it on to our kids. As parents we want to do what will be best for our kids. And of course we can't see into the future, but Heavenly Father does know how this decision will affect all of us, and so knowing we have his approval I feel we will be able to tackle the trials that will surely come our way. We are very excited about this first of many steps we will be taking over the next two years.
